Ear wax can be a nuisance if we do not deal with it properly. Our body produces ear wax to keep out bacteria, bugs and dirt. BUT sometimes, an excessive amount of ear wax can be produced by our body which can cause itchy ears or hearing problems.

However, excess ear wax do not immediately lead to blockage. The most common cause of ear wax blockage is actually using the wrong method to remove the ear wax at home. Using cotton swabs, ear pick or other objects in your ear canal can also push wax deeper, thus creating a blockage. What about ear candling? Contrary to popular belief, ear candles do not create a vacuum to SUCK out the ear wax from our ear canal. The heat from the ear candling may help to melt our ear wax though.

The most common method that we use to clean our ears would be to use Cotton swabs. Cotton swabs are cheap, convenient and easy to use. We simply need to put it in our ear, scrape at the ear wax and feel some sort of relief then discard the dirty cotton swab. Quick and easy! But did you know that using cotton swabs to clean your ear canal would actually damage your ear canal? Our ears are design to clean itself naturally.

Ear wax is produced in the outer third of your ear canal, and it's the ear's self-cleaning mechanism. The fine hairs in your ear canal move the wax outward, pushing the wax and dead skin cells OUT of your ear. Healthy ear canals will be able to clean themselves. In most people, ear wax migrates out naturally through the external ear canal and does not accumulate to cause problems.

In the beginning, there is just a small amount of ear wax in our ear canal. By using cotton swabs, we would slowly push the ear wax deeper into our ear. Eventually, we would have pushed so much wax into our ear that the huge accumulated ear wax might block our ear canal completely.

The best way to remove ear wax safely is to use the Audiclean Ear Cleansing Wash. The Audiclean Ear Cleansing Wash has been designed to work with your body's natural cleansing process to gently flush wax from the ear instead of pushing it further into the canal.

Using the Audiclean Ear Cleansing wash instead of cotton buds is a much more sensible and comfortable option. Studies have shown that 98% of patients do not notice any burning or itching sensation. It dries within a few minutes and does not leave any residue after application. The liquid acts by softening the ear wax for easier removal and liquefies ear wax in hard to reach areas. Ear wax will be softened and the blocked ear sensation will disappear after 2 – 3 days.
