A few of us were invited to review the pilates classes at My Fitness on 19th September 2012. And to be honest, even though I have attended quite a handful of pilates classes, this is the first time I have been tried a Pilates Reformer and TRX suspension trainer.

The wooden boxes behind us is called a Pilates Reformer Machine.

First things first, what is pilates? 

"Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core or center (tones abdominals while strengthening the back), and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' flexible system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. No muscle group is under or over trained. During the class, May -- the head instructor at My Fitness showed us some moves on the Pilates Reformer. I loved the Pilates Reformer -- it is kinda fun abit like human see saw because attaining balance is like the key to "beating" the pilates reformer machine. The instructors were all quite attentive to each of our needs and because the class is small, it felt more like a personal training session than a group class. May was very friendly and detailed; she even asked us if we were suffering from any previous injuries before the class commenced

And in the photo below, you can see me trying the TRX straps for the first time. AND THESE ARE A KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I kept saying, "Ok la I surrender white bra white panty la !
It is not as easy as it seems especially if you are as unfit as me. hahahaha =p
