FRACTIONAL CO2 LASER : RECOVERY DAY 11

My skin is so glowy and smooth, I can't keep my hands off my face. Friends has been complimenting me, and teasing me that the glow on my face is due to my awesome love life. But truthfully, its a combination of the two, with CO2 LASER taking 70% of the credit. hahhahahaa =p

Sorry my dearest cupcake, but CO2 laser is just too FABulous~~~~

*say FABULOUS in a sing song manner*

Some Facts about CO2 Laser Resurfacing :

1) Laser resurfacing makes it possible to remove a lifetime of sun damage, pitted skin and blemishes from your skin. Healthy skin and a more youthful appearance can be restored in a safe comfortable procedure.

2) Laser resurfacing removes the epidermal damage caused by sun, your itchy fingers touching your pimples and aging. The laser removes keratoses, premalignant lesions, age spots, and epidermal blemishes with extreme precision.

3) The upper epidermis is "stroked" smooth by the laser and this helps reduce and remove wrinkles. At the same time, acne scars are reduced and your face is re-contoured. FOR 4-5 days, there would be scabs forming on the areas that was lasered. New epidermis will grow from cells and thus, your skin is literally "renewed."
On the 1st - 5th day after the procedure, every time after I wash my face, the scabs fall off gradually.
*** Please do not use your fingers to scratch off the scabs or else the scars will get worse!***

4) The laser also stimulates the growth of healthy new collagen and elastin fibers within the skin. This will continue for six months after resurfacing. During this time the skin will continue to improve. Fifteen to twenty percent firming can be achieved.

5) Laser resurfacing also helps remove dark eye circles. At tcs clinic, it costs $250 for dark eye circles. I had Dr chow do mine for me. He reminded me that the results of an improvement would vary between patients and for me, I saw a 30% improvement.

6) After laser resurfacing, you would find that your loose eyelids and lax skin become tightened. Resilience and elasticity are restored. Your skin becomes fairer and brighter.

TIPS ON HOW TO Prepare for your Fractional CO2 Laser :

If you plan to undergo CO2 Laser, these are some items that will assist in speeding up your recovery :

1) AVENE's EXTREMELY GENTLE CLEANSER FOR INTOLERANT SKIN Vitamin E

This is how it looks :

Everyday after the procedure, I used this no-rinse cleansing gel to clean my face. I poured a small amount onto a wet cotton pad and applied it on my face. This gentle cleanser effectively removed all impurities and minimized skin irritation.

I loved how the scabs "appears" on the wet cotton pad.
Nah... photo of my scabs....
****Apologies if I spoilt your appetite!!!!!!! BUT now is a good time to diet!!!! **********
wahahaha  。(⌒∇⌒。)

2) I did not use this but it is good to have on hand : AQUAPHOR.
Apply this to relieve any discomfort and minimize redness.

I used aloe vera gel and Avene's thermal spring water every 2hours or so. And I applied a cold compress to my face every 3-4hours.

3) Drink lots and lots of water during your downtime!
For me I drink about 8 huge glasses of ice cold water plus about 3 glasses of pineapple juice mixed with manuka honey.

4) Take your multi-vitamins and eat food that is low in sodium.
Food that is high in sodium would put you at risk and cause unnecessary swelling and discomfort. Vitamins helps to promote healing and enhances your skin's regeneration.

5) Hydrocortisone cream - Dr Chow didn't provide this for me.
But I had this from the last laser session I did at another clinic. My skin tends to feel very itchy after laser, so every morning I would apply this to relieve the discomfort and itch. I would wash this cream off in about 2-3hours and then apply aloe vera and mist my face with Avene thermal spring water.

Imagine getting BABY SMOOTH skin.... just thinking about makes me smile and that alone is PRICELESS!!!!

Everyone complimented me when they saw me recently, and congratulating me on the awesomeness of my love life. Hahahahha little did they know that my beautiful skin was a result of CO2 Laser.

Even if your threshold for pain is really really low, you should undergo this treatment. It is not painful at all for me, on a scale of 1-10, this treatment gets a 2/10 for the amount of pain I received.

AND the results deserves a 100/10. =))))

21 Feb 2012 : Full make-up
Friends were complimenting me on my glow &
asking if my love life has been awesome recently.
hahahaah :p

1 week after the C02 Laser :

Gotta love Dr Chow and his team for always keeping my skin at its optimal prime.

******Contact their office and schedule a personal consultation with the doctor to discuss your specific needs ok? I am not sure how many sessions should you undergo. For me, my skin was quite good, I just had 3-4 light scars and open pores so he mentioned that I only needed one to two sessions.

During your personal consultation, Dr Chow will address your concerns, answer your questions, and recommend the best treatment option for you. The beautiful skin... that flawlessness IS ACHIEVABLE, no matter what your age or skin condition may be. So don't give up!!!!!!!

I didn't and you shouldn't too!

Did you do the area around your eyes as well? More specifically, the undercircles? I was contemplating undergoing fraxel restore in this area only but I was wary of the results. Though it's not exactly the same as yours, it's still quite similar so I was wondering if you could give me some feedback with how yours turned out in that specific place. How bad did your skin become before it began healing and how long before it fully healed?

Hi Jacqueline, nice of you to share your co2 laser experience. I was told by a dermatologist that its effects last for 6 to 9 months. One needs to go back every 6 to 9 months for 'maintenance' session. Is that true for you ?

Hi Pretty Jacqueline,

I like your blog : )
I would like to know the exact price per session if you don't mind. You said its $400 per session. Coz u said 4 session + 2 free = $ 2,400. . If its 400/session, and 4 session is $ 1,600 plus 2 session is $ 800, so 6 sessions is $2,400, isn't? there's no free at all, right?

Thank you, Im looking forward.

Hi Anne,

It's $2400 for 4 sessions and if you mention my name, you get 2 free. =) So if you divide it out, its 400 per session if you mention my name =))
